Every die line we own, catalogued for the first time — what it is, what it is made of, how many variants exist, and whether anyone outside the art department can open it. Built by a read-only crawl of the Design share.

Until last week there was no master list of our own die lines. Finding one meant knowing it existed and knowing where it was saved.
They live under a folder called ~Archive — but it is not archived. It holds files modified yesterday.
342 die lines, 832 variants, 4,292 files, catalogued and searchable. It rebuilds itself from the server in under a minute, so it cannot go stale the way a spreadsheet does.
It also found the gaps — including 47 die lines with no PDF at all, which means only someone with Illustrator can see them.
There is no status field anywhere in the library. Currency is typed into folder names — which is why 12 die lines marked DO NOT USE sit filed beside live work.
Same fix as the S-codes: one identity per job, so the die line, the artwork and the prototype travel together instead of being three separate acts of memory.
How to read a tile. DIE is the number of actual die files.
VAR is how many variant sub-folders exist under that die line. NO PDF means nobody
without Illustrator can open it. A red flag is a status word — DO NOT USE, OBSOLETE,
OLD, REVISED — found in the folder name, which is the only place status is recorded.
On this copy — read this before sharing it. Read-only and deliberately sanitised: no server
paths, no SMB links, no filenames. The live version on my machine gives a pasteable server path for
every one of the 4,292 files.
Built 2026-09-02 by read-only crawl. Nothing on the Design share — 602,430 files, twenty years of
customer artwork — was moved, renamed or written.
